Risk Analysis

Do you know your potential hazards?

TUTIS has built up extensive experience in the planning, execution and implementation of quantitative risk analysis (QRA) techniques as a risk management tool.

Our team has been responsible for the completion of a large number of QRAs ranging in size from small semi-quantitative studies of very specific activities to fully integrated QRAs of multi platform offshore complexes.

Why carry out a risk analysis?

A QRA should be undertaken for all stages of a project, from concept selection through design, construction, operations, maintenance and modifications to decommissioning and removal. Hazard analysis and QRA are now well established methods for aiding engineering and management decision-making.

A full risk analysis involves the estimation of frequency and consequences (i.e. risk) for a range of potentially hazardous scenarios. The methods and tools we employ to carry out QRA can include:

  • Hazard identification (HAZID)

  • Frequency evaluations of all major events (Major Accidental Hazards- MAH)

  • Consequence evaluations

  • Fire, smoke and gas simulations and/or assessment

  • Explosion simulations and/or assessment

  • Impairment evaluations

  • Quantification of risk to personnel, environment and asset

  • ALARP evaluation

Cost Savings

The Risk Analysis process does not always need to be a complex process that requires significant investment, frequently our team have been engaged with projects where many parts of the QRA can be carried out remotely and offline, saving time and cost and focussing on the risks above an agreed baseline of acceptable risk.
